What we found
The plumbing fault
The leak was traced to the pan connector behind the toilet. Its seal had perished, allowing water to escape around the connection between the toilet outlet and the soil pipe.

A Mountsorrel customer contacted AFS about an urgent leaking toilet. We offered both same-day emergency attendance and a lower-cost next-day appointment, and the customer chose the next-day option.

What we found
The leak was traced to the pan connector behind the toilet. Its seal had perished, allowing water to escape around the connection between the toilet outlet and the soil pipe.
What AFS did
We isolated the water supply, disconnected and removed the toilet, removed the failed pan connector and fitted a suitable replacement. The toilet was then securely refitted, flushed repeatedly and checked around the new connection to confirm that it was operating correctly without leaks.
Useful guidance
Water appearing around the rear or base of a toilet can damage flooring if it is left untreated. Stop using the toilet where practical and arrange an inspection. When the installation can safely wait, asking about both same-day and booked attendance may provide a lower-cost option. The eligible customer also received the AFS OAP discount.
