AFS emergency guide
Is this a plumbing emergency?
Not every plumbing fault needs a 24-hour call-out. Use these checks to decide whether the risk makes it urgent.
Call 07949 099363Call urgently when
- Water is actively escaping and you cannot isolate it.
- A leak is affecting electrics, a ceiling is bulging, or water is entering another property.
- A toilet is overflowing and will not stop, especially when it is the only usable toilet.
- Freezing conditions have stopped the water supply or a frozen pipe has split.
- A plumbing fault is making a business, care setting or occupied property unsafe to use.
A booked repair may be better when
- A dripping tap or small contained leak can be fully isolated.
- A toilet still works and is not leaking or overflowing.
- A sink, bath or shower is draining slowly but no wastewater is backing up.
- You need a planned replacement, alteration or maintenance visit.
Still unsure?
Call AFS and explain what is happening, or send photos and a postcode on WhatsApp. Honest triage helps avoid an unnecessary emergency call-out while making sure genuine risks are not left to get worse.
